Nicole is a refugee from the War with Grumm who came to live at Winterlight Farm with Chip Thorne's family. While technically Chip and Nicole are adopted cousins, they consider themselves as siblings and Nicole changed her name to Winter-Thorne to show that. While a future Red, Nicole's mother was a blue Ranger, and she is pictured wearing her mother's gem morpher.
